As England’s Lionesses bid to bring back glory from Canada it is sobering to look at what politicians were saying about the UK housing market at around the time their male counterparts were triumphant:-
“We intend to see that this entire nation is decently housed. Our aim is more choice in housing. We are determined to see house prices in reach of those eager to buy homes of their own. We are determined to see that the needs of people for rented accommodation are more effectively met”
Thus spoke Edward Heath when presenting the Conservative Party Manifesto nearly 50yrs ago in 1966.
